Features
Uses finite element analysis to calculate temperature profiles and heat transfer for any general geometry
Description
FEMtherm supports effective screening of temperature effects on a wide range of bundle geometries and burial configurations to ensure safe conditions during normal operations. The module also predicts the impact of temperature changes during shut-down and start-up procedures. Examples of possible workflows are:
- Determining the spatial temperature distribution in pipeline bundle cross sections
- Investigating the effect of thermal insulation
- Examining heat exchange between pipelines in the same bundle, for example when considering pipeline heating during shut-in or prior to start-up
- Analysis of the temperature field in the soil around buried pipelines
Typical cases
Transient simulations of heat and fluid flow for:
- Bundled pipelines
- Buried and half-buried pipelines
- Complex risers
- Heating, cooling, and heat exchange effects
- Well completion
- Thermal interaction between wells
