Symmetry 2021.3 Now Available

Thursday, 23 September 2021

Product details

The Symmetry process software platform captures all aspects of your models from reservoir to product distribution. The Symmetry platform offers a unique opportunity to model your process workflows in one environment, integrating pipelines, networks, and facilities models while ensuring consistent thermodynamics and fluid characterization across the entire system. This approach, combined with a simple way to switch between steady-state and dynamic modeling, enables companies to optimize processes in upstream, midstream, and downstream sectors, maximizing profits and minimizing CAPEX. We are excited to announce the Symmetry 2021.3 release, full of new features to provide users with deeper insights into day-to-day modeling operations.

Key features of this release

The PIPESIM steady-state multiphase flow simulator is now integrated with the Symmetry platform, enabling the integrated modeling of pipe networks. The Symmetry platform now includes an electrolyte property calculator. The calculations are executed by the OLI Systems’ OLI Engine, which performs the property calculations. The OLGA dynamic multiphase flow simulator and MySep software are fully integrated with the Symmetry platform providing additional functionality and enhancements.

  • PIPESIM integration
You can now model the flow of fluids for all the pipe networks using the PIPESIM simulator, enabling you to examine and change specifications and view the results in the Symmetry platform.
  • OLGA integration
The integration of the OLGA simulator supports "Downstream" (Symmetry-to-OLGA) connections when the OLGA simulator is running compositional tracking. You can also import server data variables from the OLGA simulator into the signal connections function.
  • OLI Engine integration
The Symmetry platform now has an integrated electrolyte property calculator—the OLI Systems' OLI Engine, which executes the calculations. When the OLI thermodynamic model is selected, you can activate it at a flowsheet level to dictate all equilibrium calculations in the unit operations. You can also select the OLI Engine electrolyte property calculator option in user-selected material streams from any thermodynamic model (except the OLI Engine model).
  • MySep integration
The MySep Manager replaces the MySep Engine interface to support new features such as auto-pairing between separators in the Symmetry platform and loaded geometries with identical names.
  • Unit operations
You can specify pressure profiles in towers based on the pressure drop per section and customize the number of pressure-drop sections.
A detailed list of all new features and improvements, and software fixes is available in the “What's New” document in the Symmetry platform installation.
