VOLCAN_TO_DIO can generate velocity spikes in the output DIO model that do not exist in the input Volcan model. An example would a sliver of salt velocity within sediments or a sliver of sediment velocity in salt. This problem occurs most often in Volcan models that have rough, detailed, finely sampled mesh surfaces with a large velocity contrast (e.g. salt) being converted to a DIO model with a fine grid sampling.
This issue can occur in the 2014.1 version of VOLCAN_TO_DIO and will require patch 2014.1EXTPatch25 to be applied. Versions 8.7 or greater will not have this problem.
