Data (Studio™ E&P knowledge software)

Performance has been improved when updating data in the repository. The improvement applies to all domain objects, and particularly when updating and saving data using Ocean™ software development framework for Studio software.

Geological interpretation

A new workflow command “Advanced get well top attribute”     has been added to this release. It allows users to get the value from the specific well top attribute in a scalable way using well, surface, and attribute as an input.

There are two new enhancements for wells that include the option to convert the existing well plan into well survey by right clicking, and quickly flattening the well section on zero    depth (zero MD, zero TVD or zero subsea true vertical depth [SSTVD]). Now user can quickly flip between a stratigraphic view (flatten on well top) and a structural view (flatten on zero depth) with a right-click on a well top that is displayed in the well section window in the input pane. Keyboard shortcuts are also enabled for easier view of the changes—CTRL+SHIFT+X to flatten on the active well top and CTRL+SHIFT+C to flatten on zero depth.
Real-time connector    (RTC) which is the standard solution to transfer data in real-time from a server to Petrel software, has been updated to the newer version (14.2). It improves the overall stability and includes bug fixes.

Geophysical interpretation

In this release, reassigning of fault sticks from one fault to another will also reassign associated fault contact points.

Structural and reservoir modeling

Reservoir modeling workflow and continuity is enhanced in this release. Users can seamlessly incorporate complex nested variograms in uncertainty analysis workflows,    by importing variogram parameters determined in data analysis as editable values into the property modeling dialogs. Performance is improved when relayering an existing grid, while still maintaining property containers and parameters to allow their rapid regeneration.

Reservoir engineering

To complement the CO2 storage workflows already released in Petrel 2023.1, new CO2 storage fluid and results presets are now available. The fluid presets populate the default CO2 fluid model properties in each tab in the make fluid model process. Additionally, the results presets set up the default summary, and 3D grid properties results for a CO2 storage simulation in the define simulation case process.   Users must have Intersect 2023.1 or later to use fluid presets and Intersect 2023.2 connector or later to use results presets in the simulation.

Users

Petrel software and Studio software bring benefits to all geoscientists and engineers, including seismic processors, seismic interpreters, geologists, reservoir modelers, reservoir engineers, drilling engineers, production geologists, and data and information managers. They can be deployed by companies working in exploration, development, and production for either conventional or unconventional reservoirs. They are now also fully used for developing new energy projects, such as CCUS, geothermal and wind farm site characterization.
