Release updates

New injection differential pressure control in Eclipse 100

A new well control mode has been introduced for injector wells in Eclipse 100. It enforces a maximum injection differential pressure for each well, similar to how well drawdown controls work for producers. A new keyword, WELIDP, manages the activation of this feature, and the BRILLIG example deck has been updated to demonstrate its use.

Improved support for complex well completions with lumped completion reporting in Eclipse 100

Local grid lumped completion keywords (those starting with ‘LW’ and ending with ‘L’) are now available in Eclipse 100, with improved validation, allowing for greater resolution analysis of wells with complex perforations.

Intel MPI version updated

Intel MPI 2021.18 has been added to the DVD for Windows and Linux.

New and improved functionality

For both the Eclipse 100 and Eclipse 300 simulators

  • Initialization of user defined arguments (UDAs) in the WELDRAW keyword have been improved to handle wells defined using both a UDA and a wildcard for the well name.

For the Eclipse 100 simulator

  • Handling of non-neighbor connections (NNCs) in local grid refinements that are modified by the region transmissibility multiplier (MULTREGT) functionality has been improved.
  • Reporting of grid and NNC in the print file has been improved, with better clarity for local grid refinement (LGR) names, IJK indexes, and region numbers reported.
  • The 3D output of parallel domains when local grid refinements straddle different regions has been improved.
  • Group actions defined with ACTIONG have greater flexibility, now allowing the wildcard ‘?’ as a group name in its contained keywords.
  • Validation of missing included files references after END or ENDINC keywords has been improved.
  • Requests for local grid report tables where no data would be generated are now suppressed.

For the Eclipse 300 simulator

  • Tracer production reports in CO2STORE thermal models has been improved.
  • The output of pore volume multiplier modifications in the restart files has been made more robust.
  • Reporting of the water saturation function (WSF) for GASWAT and isothermal CO2STORE files has been added to the INIT file.
