The Eclipse 2025.2 release includes developments enhancing the performance, usability and functionality of the simulators.
An alternative “compressibility model” has been made available for cases using CO2SOL and H2SSOL functionalities. In this approach, water properties can be represented as tables against pressure when saturated with CO2 or H2S. Undersaturated properties are constructed using a compressibility model.
This approach is also available in the Intersect™ reservoir simulator and may be useful in matching results between the two simulators.
To provide flexibility in well production apportioning in advanced field management operations, user defined arguments (UDAs) are now available in the WGRUPCON keyword. This means that well guide rates and their scaling factors can now be defined as expressions rather than fixed values.
When setting gas concentration to coalbed methane (CBM) models (e.g., via GASCONC), validation has been added to treat input values above the saturation point.
Oil field manager (OFM) connection reporting has been enhanced to provide the XY location of the connection rather than its wellhead.
Parallel reporting of cells which have fallen below the specified bubble/dew point has been made clearer.
Reporting of CBM models has been improved, with clearer presentation of free/adsorbed gas amounts.
For consistency with Intersect reservoir simulator and improved calculations, an option has been added to use an exponential formulation rather than a one-term Taylor series for thermal oil phase density.
The combined use of GASWAT/isothermal CO2STORE and endpoint scaling has been improved.
Enhancements have been made in the reporting of vertical flow performance (VFP) table extrapolations in parallel runs.
Reporting of rock volumes for CBM models has been improved.
Messaging and validation for keywords associated to multisegmented wells have been improved.
Support has been added for the Red Hat Enterprise Linux 9 (RHEL9) distribution. Please refer to the Eclipse simulator Installation guide for additional information.
The application managing licensing for the Eclipse and Intersect simulators, as well as other SLB software, has been upgraded to its 2025.1 version, which is now included in the installer. Upgrading is recommended—please refer to the installation guide for more information.
