Release Details

​Petrel 2015 is a major release of the Petrel platform. It delivers a wide range of new features and quality improvements covering stability, performance, and reliability. The Petrel platform brings disciplines together with best-in-class applied science in an unparalleled productivity environment. This shared earth approach enables companies to standardize workflows from exploration to production—and make more informed decisions with a clear understanding of both opportunities and risks.

Also available is the 2015 release of the Studio E&P knowledge environment. This new release enables petrotechnical professionals to collaborate with colleagues, and share knowledge (all in the context of their Petrel platform project), improving productivity and gaining insight for smarter decisions in relevant timeframes.

Petrel Platform Updates

​As part of our ongoing commitment to standardization and quality of service, the Petrel platform commenced delivery of a regular structured update process. Petrel platform bi-monthly updates deliver new features and improvements in stability, performance, and reliability. This efficient and predictable access to new capabilities and quality focus will continue, allowing you to proactively plan your deployment procedure.

Commitment to Quality

​Petrel 2015 continues the step-change in software beta test methodology introduced with Petrel 2013. The Petrel platform architecture tracks and audits beta testing, ensuring that the broad range of capabilities is consistently and comprehensively tested. For 2015, this involved more than 100 oil and gas companies across the spectrum of majors, independents and national oil companies, as well as internal resources. In total, we have recorded more than 30 person-years of testing on the 2015 beta over a period of four months.
