New Software Release

OMNI 3D 2023 Now Available

Friday, 15 December 2023

Product details

OMNI 3D™ seismic survey design software is the industry standard for seismic survey design and modeling. Plan, execute, and analyze land, marine, transition zone, vertical seismic profile (VSP), and multicomponent surveys. The intuitive interface and versatile multi-project handling capability of the software enable users to analyze and monitor their seismic acquisition projects quickly and effectively. OMNI 3D 2023 improves the user experience, with a focus on user interface (UI) responsiveness and quick cancellation for intensive tasks.

The software is available in two modules:

  • OMNI 3D layout is used for geometry design, QC, analysis, and reporting, as well as 2D ray model and target model building and analysis.
  • OMNI 3D workshop contains all OMNI 3D software functionality from geometry design and QC and adds advanced analyses including 3D model building and analysis.

Release details

  • Quickly cancel intensive running processes including:
    • Bin analysis computations for surveys and streamers
    • When creating grids
    • Script shooting computations
    • Field file import and exports
  • Standardized batch mode and convert to batch operations for all analyses.
  • New support for custom EPSG codes; users can edit the epsg_codes.txf file to add codes.
  • User can now set the roll A and roll B direction within the ocean bottom cable (OBC) simple tile wizard.
  • Added support for uninstall of Microsoft software installer.
  • Numerous updates, additions, and fixes to projections and datums.
  • More frequent progress bar updates for ongoing analysis computations.
  • Significantly improved data streamer UI responsiveness, especially noticeable for larger data streamers.
  • Significantly improved display of data streamers in the “Edit View” tab.
  • Results are now consistent and reliable when combining bin analyses with data streamers.
  • Improved station tracking of data streamers so that tracking is usable in real time while moving the mouse.
  • Users can now save sail/boat positions to a text file for model and data streamers.
  • Model streamers view event wizard now displays line and point numbers.
  • Data streamers view event wizard now displays boat positions.
  • View events wizard, 3D, and volume tabs display streamer event text.
  • Improved usability and reliability when defining 2D ray models from LAS files (flat models).
  • Improved LAS log curve averaging calculation methods.
  • Construct 2D ray models from LAS in any order (the order in which Vp, Vs or Rho were loaded affected the resulting model).
  • Enhancement to the trace-select polyline wizard, which is used to compare lines between different surveys with different bin grids. The option is available for stack, pre-stack time migration (PSTM) impulse, PSTM volume, dip moveout (DMO) impulse, velocity, and stack array response.
  • Added more labeling to stack analysis charts including chart names, legends, and axis names.
  • Timing lines disabled by default, in the chart display for stack analysis.
  • Modified binary header of exported SEGY files.
  • Additional information added to the utility which outputs bin grid save bin grid corner coordinates.
  • Updated uninstall procedure, so that users can uninstall the application directly rather than needing to remove the bundle.
  • Increased survey parameter precision: all query object wizards and station spreadsheets now display six decimal places for coordinates, angles, bearings, elevations, and velocities. Users can now copy and paste attributes with high precision rather than having to export them.
  • More precision and reporting of bearing angles for each line, which users require to set orientation for area scripts that have been added.
  • Increased the tool length and roll size parameter limits for VSP and reflection tomography scripts.
