Product details

Omega™ seismic data processing software brings together advanced workflows and algorithms together with scalable processing, maximizing the value of geophysical data.

Omega 2026.1 delivers advancements for:

Key release features

Geophysical enhancements

Full-waveform inversion impedance imaging (FWI3) multiparameter inversion: simultaneous multiparameter inversion of velocity and impedance for direct, high-resolution seismic imaging (full-waveform inversion [FWI]-derived reflectivity, FWI derived reflectivity [FDR]). FWI3 enables a leap in FWI inversion frequency, once the kinematic aspect of the velocity model is well-resolved and delivers reflectivity volumes with broad bandwidth and balanced illumination.

FWI Qp inversion: multiparameter inversion of velocity and acoustic quality factor (Qp) improves imaging in complex environments affected by anelastic attenuation (e.g., gas bodies). Supports both individual and simultaneous joint inversion for Vp and Qp, yielding geologically consistent earth models.

Seismic function module (SFM) library modernization: Continued updates to the SFM library to ensure reliability, with updates to key SFMs such as general surface multiple prediction (GSMP), TOOLKIT, and OBS_WAVEFIELD_DECON.

Application usability

Accelerated batch submission when simultaneously submitting thousands of processing jobs, for improved efficiency on large-scale datasets.

Multiple attribute display (MAD) is utilized for analysis of attribute data for quality control purposes. The updates in Omega 2026.1 introduce new visualization features and improved usability for data visualization and quality control.

This update offers capabilities for creating and maintaining your own workflow template repository for publishing and promoting standardized workflows.

Enhanced infrastructure and security

Expanded hardware portfolio for compute intensive and AI workflows, by introducing:

  • CPUs AMD Turin (EPYC 9005)
  • GPUs: NVIDIA RTX PRO 6000 Blackwell Server Edition and NVIDIA H200
  • Strengthened cybersecurity and identity management by deploying FreeIPA.
  • Modernization of the application runtime for improved security and efficiency.

Petrel™ subsurface software and Petrel earth model building plug-in compatibility

Omega 2026.1 is fully compatible with Petrel earth model building plug-ins (planned for release later in 2026). Volcan models from Petrel 2024.3 are compatible with SFMs in Omega 2026.1.

Target users

Omega and its Petrel plugins are designed for geophysicists focused on seismic processing and imaging. Typical users include seismic processing geophysicists, imaging experts, and advanced interpreters who require top-quality, high‑performance, scalable workflows for signal processing, velocity model building, migration, inversion, and AVO analysis.
