Product details

The Omega geophysical data processing platform and associated Petrel Earth Model Building plug-in provide you with all of the tools to process land, marine, transition zone, 2D, 3D, and time-lapse seismic data, rapidly and accurately.
The Omega platform offers an interactive desktop, seismic processing infrastructure, sophisticated data management, and a diverse algorithm base to enable complex seismic data processing from a single workstation to a cluster-processing environment. The Petrel Earth Model Building plug-in includes a complete workflow for imaging and velocity modeling that leverages the capability of the Omega platform and the Petrel E&P software platform to provide an interactive environment to enable you to make confident decisions.
Together these platforms offer

  • Industry leading tomography and steering filters
  • fully integrated interpretation and processing
  • high-definition flexible velocity model representation
  • full anisotropic modeling (vertical transverse isotropy [VTI] and tilted transverse isotropy [TTI])
  • complex geobody modeling capabilities
  • interactive localized imaging techniques.

Key release features

The key features of Omega 2021.1 include

  • two new seismic function modules (SFMs), which perform simultaneous estimation and correction of variations in water velocity, source and receiver position, and clock drift in ocean bottom node (OBN) data.
  • the ability to use data from the overburden zone to predict internal multiples beneath the overburden zone
  • new functionality and updates in Kirchhoff Depth Migration including
    • an option to employ ray path patterns for multiples to create travel timetables for migrating a large amount of data without creating a mirror model, while maintaining consistent results with the conventional mirror padding method
    • migrating data random using input data selection
    • improved turnaround time, compared to using DIO format, for P to converted S wave migration with Volcan models
    • selection of automated area output for offset vector tiles (OVTs)
    • varied user-defined aperture as a function of depth.
  • a new dispersion curve picking mode in the SURFACE_WAVE_ANALY SFM that uses a global machine learning mode to pick the fundamental surface wave mode
  • improved efficiency, functionality, and/or increased processing speed including seismic function modules for MIGR_RTM, GENERAL_RADON, and TRC_MANIPULATE
  • improved usability and functionality for the Omega Project Manager, SeisFlow, SeisView, Multiple Attribute Display, and Dataset Manager applications
Under the software-as-a-service (SaaS) model, there is a new workflow available for licensing the least-squares migration (LSM) post stack inversion workflow enables modeling and compensation for dip-dependent illumination effects caused by geometry and complex geology. LSM post-stack inversion delivers a reflectivity corrected for illumination effects, providing better continuity, a sharper image, and a reliable amplitude.
The Petrel Earth Model Building plug-in suite has also been updated with the Omega 2021.1 release updates including
  • enhancements to the Petrel Earth Model Building suite, including new functionality to simplify the initial setup for a pseudo-3D approach to velocity model building using multiple 2D lines
  • enhancements to prestack seismic interpretation (PSI), including the addition of an end-of-the-gather gap option when displaying prestack data in the prestack window, and a new difference prestack virtual computation (PVC) that computes the difference in trace amplitude between two prestack datasets.

Users

The suite of tools, including the Omega platform and Ocean software development framework plug-ins for the Petrel platform, is designed for users to condition, process, model, image, interpret, invert, or otherwise handle seismic data or conduct AVO modeling.
