Equinor awards SLB contract for Leak Detection System for Johan Sverdrup Phase-II development

Equinor has, through a technical qualification study, selected SLB for delivering a novel Leak Detection and Virtual Flow Metering solution for the multiphase production network in Johan Sverdrup Phase II. The solution is based on the OLGA Online* technology.

Johan Sverdrup field is an offshore oil discovery located in the Norwegian Continental Shelf (NCS) in the North Sea. The field is currently in phase 1 with daily production of 535,000 barrels of oil. Phase 2 production is planned to commence in the fourth quarter of 2022 and is expected to increase production to 720,000 barrels of oil in total.

OLGA Online was selected by Equinor because of its technical capabilities to support early pipeline leak detection workflows and deliver accurate virtual flow metering solutions in a challenging technical and regulatory environment. The solution will support company objectives and be implemented before the commencement of first oil.

Transitioning from evaluation through to full field implementation, SLB is committed to demonstrating the value of the technology in action during post-field production start-up and ongoing operations and achieving Equinor's performance and sustainability objectives.
