Optimized for large-scale surveys, the Petrel multiphysics plug-in provides tools to integrate electromagnetic (EM) and potential fields data with geological knowledge, seismic data, and well logs. Petrel Multiphysics comprises three individual modules: Petrel magnetotellurics (MT), Petrel controlled source EM (CSEM), and Petrel gravity and magnetics (GM).
The interactive environment of Petrel multiphysics, fully integrated within Petrel subsurface software, makes this an essential tool for reliable data integration and decision making through data processing, qualitative and quantitative analysis, and modeling.
The plug-in’s full suite of interactive workflows enable users to build velocity models and execute depth-imaging workflows within Petrel through integration with the Omega platform. The earth model building suite meets the need for efficient integration of interpretation, modeling, and seismic processing tools to facilitate any imaging workflow through access to the Omega platform as well as Petrel geophysics software. This ensures accurate representation of reservoir velocity properties, including anisotropic parameters derived from well and seismic information.
Georeferenced data visualization and editing, attribute maps, pseudosections, and filtering
Petrel multiphysics enables you to display and edit EM and potential fields data synchronized within the Petrel 3D canvas.
The Petrel MT and Petrel CSEM modules enable data analysis and quality control through data rotation and resampling, extraction of data attribute maps, pseudosections, and the removal of outliers. All tools can be used interactively or in batch processing to improve your dataset competency while enhancing your productivity.
A dedicated toolbox in Petrel GM offers the ability to apply filters (e.g., Butterworth) and perform data transform operations (e.g., directional derivatives, reduction to pole) and then immediately QC the effects of these processes on the 2D spectrum and radially averaged power spectrum. Rose diagrams enable you to extract the information of new lineaments traced through map enhancement and better investigate directionality of geological features.
Integrated modeling and interpretation
Petrel multiphysics supports the creation of multiproperty models leveraging the a priori geological and geophysical knowledge in the study area. 2D and 3D resistivity, velocity, density, and susceptibility property distributions may be defined using boundary polygons, geobodies, and any surface supported by Petrel.
The plug-in enables robust workflows for 2D and 3D forward modeling and inversion. Inverted models and results are enriched in Petrel by seismic horizons, wells, and additional data for a more comprehensive and confident interpretation.
Petrel multiphysics enables running 3D EM inversion jobs on high performance computing (HPC) systems and integrates seamlessly with the Omega geophysical data processing platform.
