Dr. Sultan holds

• BSc. Electrical Engineering from University of Arizona (USA).
• MBA (Technology Management) from the Open University (UK), and
• DBA (Doctor of Business Administration) from University of Liverpool (UK).

He started his career in PDO as a petroleum engineer and has worked in various asset teams, including a 3-year assignment in Brunei Shell. For over 20 years, he has assumed various technical management and leadership roles in PDO. Currently, he is the Petroleum Engineering Function Director and member of PDO’s Leadership Team. In his over 33 years of work experience, he acquired extensive technical, commercial, managerial, and organizational leadership experiences.

He is very active at the professional and community levels, including:

• President of Oman Society of engineers (OSE) 2008-2011
• Board member of Al Mudhaibi Cultural and Sport Club 1993-1996
• Member of the International Society of Petroleum engineers (SPE), and
• Various community supporting societies and committees.

He served in many conferences and forums as Conference Chair (MEOS 2019, IHFTC 2022), Program Committee Chair (EOR/OGWA: 2014, 2016, 2018), or Conference Advisor/member of organizing committees (OPES 2022, IPTC 2005, KOGAS 2018, HeavyOil (2017), and the Gulf Engineering Forums (2017-2011).

He is very passionate about and puts significant efforts on people capability development, advancing R&D and technology, and developing new ways of working.
