Fernando Assumpção Borges is Chief Exploration and Production Officer at Petrobras in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.  

He holds a degree in civil engineering from the Federal University of Uberlândia, an Executive MBA from COPPEAD/UFRJ, and attended the Advanced Management Program at INSEAD (France). 

Borges began his career with Petrobras in 1983, and since then he has held various positions of increasing responsibility in the Exploration and Production area in Brazil, and abroad as E&P Managing Director in Petrobras Bolivia. He served as Executive Manager of Libra, and then Executive Manager of External Affairs, a position he held until April 2021. In this position, he was responsible for articulation with the Government at the Federal, State and Municipal levels, with the Regulatory Bodies and Associations, as well as with National and Foreign Representations.

He served as a Director at the Brazilian Institute of Petroleum, Gas and Biofuels – IBP, and as Director of the Brazilian Association of Oil Exploration and Production Companies and Gas – ABEP, appointed by Petrobras from 2016 to 2021. He is currently a member of the Board of Directors of the IBP and the ABEP.
