Schlumberger Licensing Tool 2020.1 Now Available

The Schlumberger License Tool is a common utility for all Schlumberger software, providing application license control and management.

The release of the Schlumberger Licensing Tool 2020.1 contains critical security and stability updates, and it is recommended that all users of Schlumberger software upgrade to the Schlumberger Licensing Tool 2020.1. Note: This release does not apply to the DELFI cognitive E&P environment and its experiences and applications.

SIS major software releases do not need to make any change to use the SIS License Server 2020.1. The SIS License Server 2020.1 is compatible with prior versions of SIS license files and software versions.

The release of the Schlumberger Licensing Tool 2020.1 requires ALL users of the Schlumberger software listed below to upgrade to the new licensing tool when they receive a renewal of their Schlumberger license file, as well as uninstall the SPT License Handler. If they choose to upgrade before their renewal, they must request a new license file. Clients should contact their Schlumberger Account Manager to plan the upgrade/renewal. On upgrade, they must uninstall the SPT License Handler.

Technology upgrade

  • The server has been upgraded to FlexNet Publisher 11.16.5.0.
  • The server has been upgraded to CodeMeter 6.90b runtime.
  • The installation package has been migrated from InstallShield to WiX.

SPT licensing

  • The release of the Schlumberger Licensing Tool 2020.1 requires ALL users of the OLGA simulator, Drillbench software, MEPO optimizer, FORGAS software, PIPEFLO simulator, and WELLFLO tool (which use the SPT License Handler) to upgrade to the new licensing tool when they receive a renewal of their Schlumberger license file or if they choose to upgrade before their renewal, they must request a new license file. Clients should contact their Schlumberger Account Manager to plan the upgrade/renewal. On upgrade, they must uninstall the SPT License Handler.
Clients can either request a new license file or wait for the regular renewal process. When receiving a new license file, the client must upgrade to the Schlumberger Licensing Tool 2020.1, as well as uninstall the SPT License Handler. Clients should contact their Schlumberger Account Manager to plan the upgrade/renewal.

License files will be available in the new format from 30 March 2020.

  • Upgrading to Schlumberger Licensing Tool 2020.1:
  1. Ensure that you have received a new license file from Schlumberger.
  2. Uninstall the SPT License Handler if it is installed on the same machine.
  3. Download the Schlumberger Licensing Tool 2020.1 from the Software Download Center (SDC).
  4. Install the Schlumberger Licensing Tool 2020.1.
  5. Set up the new license file.

The new license file will work with all earlier versions of the software.
