Multiwell Modeling (MWM) is an additional feature of Seismic Velocity Modeling (SVM) that allows for the quick conversion of an isotropic model into an anisotropic depth model using well data or regional anisotropy profiles that conforms to geological boundary trends. The ability to quickly build a starting anisotropic model closer to the true geology can reduce the number of iterations of tomography and significantly reduce both the imaging project turnaround time as well as computation resource usage.
MWM also enables calibrating an existing anisotropic model to tie with well markers for accurate depth positioning of seismic events. Accurate anisotropic depth models can increase confidence in depth positioning and optimize image quality, two benefits that are fundamental to making better exploration and drilling decisions.
